The application period is now closed. The Pitch Competition finale will take place during the WeXchange Forum in Asuncion, Paraguay, on November 13 and 14. Please stay tuned, the 6 finalists will be announced through this site and our social media accounts.

 

Pitch Competition
WeXchange Pitch Competition is a business competition that rewards the most innovative and dynamic women entrepreneur in the region, whose tech-based enterprise demonstrates a high growth potential. The competition allows participating entrepreneurs to meet investors, mentors and fellow entrepreneurs from all over the region, as well as compete for prizes that can help the growth of their startup.

 

Application Requirements:

  • The startup must have, at least, one woman in the founding team, who will present the pitch.
  • The startup must have operations in at least one Latin American or Caribbean country.
  • The startup must have received less than USD 1 million in financing and was incorporated in the past 4 years.
  • The startups must have an MVP (minimum viable product), whose key component involves science, technology, engineering and math (STEM)
  • Demonstrates high innovation, impact and scalability.
  • Globally scalable business model.
  • Each participant can only present one startup.
  • The applicant must be available through the pre-selection and selection process, as well as preparation and mentoring period in case of selection.

Prizes for the Pitch Competition 2019

Pitch Competition Prizes:

  • A one-week immersion program at Microsoft offices in San Francisco, U.S., with access to mentors and experts from the local ecosystem.
  • A Technical Assessment package from the experts of Microsoft.
  • Microsoft Azure credits equivalent to USD12,000.
  • A private office for two people at one of the WeWork LatAm facilities for one year.

INTERNACIONAL AIRPORT

Silvio Pettirossi International Airport is located 4 miles/6.5km away from the venue of WeXchange, hotel  Paseo La Galería Event Center.

 

TRANSPORTATION

Tranportation in and out of the airport, as well as to/from activities outside of WeXchange, will be covered individually by the participant. The use of Uber, official airport and/or hotel taxi services is recommended.

 

CLIMATE

Asunción is one of the warmest capitals in the world, due to its geographic location. Average temperature in November is around 20-32 °C.

 

LANGUAGE

We will be offering simultaneous interpretation services both from English to Spanish and vice versa, during all activities throughout the event, except for the mentoring sessions.

 

CURRENCY

The guaraní is the oficial currency of Paraguay. Take a look at the current exchange rate: https://www.bcp.gov.py/.

Debit and credit cards are widely accepted in commercial establishments such as stores and restaurants. If you wish to exchange money, we recommend you to do so in the city center or at the airport. There will be plenty of options at the airport near the exits.

The official languages of the forum will be English and Spanish. Most presentations will be translated into English or Spanish. In mentoring sessions, entrepreneurs should be prepared to perform their pitch in both English and Spanish.

 

How can I participate in WeXchange 2019?
PRESENTIAL:
register to participate in the forum and start planning the trip to Asunción, Paraguay, between November 13 and 14. All applications will be reviewed by the WeXchange team.

VIRTUAL: you can still follow the forum via live webcast, or through updates to our Facebook and Twitter channels.

 

How many entrepreneurs per startup can participate?
There is no limit to the number of entrepreneurs that can participate from one single company. The only suggestion is that the participants from same company participate together in individual mentoring sessions.
